LCK 2015
Series LCK
Location Seoul, South Korea

Introduction

The 2015 season of Champions was the fourth season of Korea’s top-level professional League of Legends league and the first to adopt a single-league structure rather than multiple conferences (merging sister teams). This season marked the rise of the SK Telecom T1 dynasty and the emergence of the GE Tigers (later KOO Tigers) as world-class contenders.

Key Points

  • SK Telecom T1 Dominance: Following the merger of SKT K and S, the team dominated both splits with world-class stars like Faker and MaRin.
  • Format Evolution: The single-league format allowed every team to play each other, significantly increasing the competitive floor of the region.
  • Global Impact: Champions 2015 set the stage for Korea's absolute dominance at Worlds 2015, resulting in an all-Korean final.

Season Structure

Spring & Summer Splits

  • Regular Season: Double round-robin format with matches played as Best-of-Three (Bo3).
  • Playoffs: A King-of-the-Hill sequential bracket based on regular season standings.
  • Series Format: Sequential rounds were Bo3/Bo5, with the Grand Final decided in a Best-of-Five (Bo5).

World Championship Qualification

  • Split champions and teams with high Championship Points earned qualification for the World Championship.
