LJL 2018: The Battle of Giants

The LJL 2018 Season was the 7th and 8th season of Japan's professional League of Legends league. The season maintained its competitive 6-team circuit with high stakes, as the bottom teams fought to survive the grueling promotion/relegation tournament.

2018 Format Rules

  • League Size: 6 Teams.
  • Regular Season: Double Round Robin. Matches are Best-of-Three (Bo3).
  • Playoffs: A "King of the Hill" bracket reserved strictly for the Top 3 teams from the regular season. The 2nd and 3rd seeds clash in the Semifinals, with the victor challenging the 1st seed in the Grand Final. Matches are Best-of-Five (Bo5).
  • Relegation: The 5th and 6th place teams are forced to fight for their lives in the Promotion Tournament against the top Challenger Series (LJLCS) teams.
  • International Qualification: The Spring Champion qualified for the 2018 MSI Play-In. The Summer Champion qualified for the 2018 World Championship Play-In.
