Patch Overview

Mid-Patch Updates

  • The March 20 update pulls back Shyvana's launch numbers across durability, Q, W, E, and R after her update went live.
  • Cassiopeia's listed changes were delayed, Olaf's Q damage and monster damage were increased, Rift Herald now triggers Overgrowth from core actions, and two Arena bugs were fixed.

Patch Highlights

  • Patch 26.6 centers on Shyvana's update, First Stand, a compact Summoner's Rift balance pass, and mode updates for Arena and ARAM: Mayhem.
  • Warhound Naafiri, Warhound Senna, and Warhound Warwick headline the cosmetic release and become available March 18, 2026.

Shyvana Update

  • Shyvana receives a full update with a new model, visual effects, voice over, skins, and a refreshed ability kit.
  • The new kit stacks permanent defenses through Scalemail, adds max-health damage through Emberstrike, folds shield and heal tools into Inferno Aegis, and keeps Dragon's Descent as the form-shifting centerpiece.

First Stand

  • First Stand runs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with the finals scheduled for March 22.
  • Warhound Senna is the 2026 esports revenue-share skin, with Riot sharing a portion of proceeds from the skin and bundles with LoL Esports teams.

Champions

  • The live Summoner's Rift pass targets a small set of outliers: Ahri, Pyke, Shen, and Zaahen lose power, while Azir, Skarner, and Tryndamere get cleaner damage or lane tools.
  • Cassiopeia's listed buffs are recorded but did not ship live, while Lissandra and Olaf are mixed power-shape changes with clear play-pattern goals.

Items

  • Chempunk Chainsword gets a direct cost cut to better compete with other Grievous Wounds options.
  • Sunfire Aegis keeps its role intact while receiving a smoother tank build path.

Systems

  • Support item farming penalties are softened so supports can kill more minions before income restrictions activate.
  • Riot frames this as an interim step while evaluating whether the restriction can be removed further without enabling support-role carries to siphon bot-lane farm.

Summoner's Rift Clash - Noxus Cup

  • The Noxus Cup registration window opens March 16 at 11:00 AM local time.
  • Tournament days are March 21 and March 22, with regional windows around 4-7 PM local time.

Arena

  • Arena adds Big Dragon Energy for Shyvana and buffs several underserved augments, shards, and items.
  • Fiendhunter Bolts, Zeke's Convergence, Divine Sunderer, Goredrinker, and Night Harvest are pushed upward, while Crown of the Shattered Queen trades a stronger reduction window for a shorter linger duration.

ARAM: Mayhem

  • ARAM: Mayhem relaxes older champion modifiers for several tanks and melee champions so they sit closer to their normal power profiles.
  • Augment tuning trims some excessive movement speed patterns while strengthening Droppybara, Juiced, Triggered Inferno, Watch Out Cupcake, and the reworked Make It Rain coin payoff.

Bugfixes

  • The large Mayhem fix pass focuses on augment selection, Stat Anvils, shop access, Viego and Ornn edge cases, and tooltip or VFX errors.
  • Most fixes are mode-stability work around the new augment systems, with several champion-specific interactions cleaned up along the way.

Bugfixes & QoL Changes

  • The standard Rift bugfix pass polishes Apex Duo Restriction behavior and cleans up Mel, Samira, Ivern, Zac, and Senna issues.
  • These are small behavior and audio corrections rather than direct balance changes.

Champions

Summoner's Rift balance focuses on a small group of outliers, with Shyvana's update handled separately and Cassiopeia's listed buffs delayed by the mid-patch follow-up.

NERF
Ahri icon

Ahri

Q base damage is trimmed to bring down Ahri's waveclear after her earlier buff pushed her too high in mid lane.

Q - Orb of Deception

  • Damager per Pass: 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 ⇒ 35 / 60 / 85 / 110 / 135
BUFF
Azir icon

Azir

Q scaling now ramps with rank and W gains stronger level and AP scaling, giving Azir more practical damage across the game.

Q - Conquering Sands

  • Damage AP Ratio: (+ 35% AP) ⇒ (+ 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 55% AP)

W - Arise!

  • Damage: 0-45 (5 damage per level starting at level 10) ⇒ 0-72 (7 damage per level starting at level 10)
  • Damage AP Ratio: (+ 32.5 / 40 / 47.5 / 55 / 62.5% AP) ⇒ (+35 / 42.5 / 50 / 57.5 / 65% AP)
ADJUSTED
Cassiopeia icon

Cassiopeia

The patch lists more mana and stronger poisoned-target E damage, but the March 20 update says these changes did not ship and were delayed.

Base Stats

  • Base Mana: 450 ⇒ 480

E - Twin Fang

  • Bonus Magic Damage to Poisoned Targets: 20 / 43 / 66 / 89 / 112 ⇒ 20 / 45 / 70 / 90 / 120
ADJUSTED
Lissandra icon

Lissandra

Q returns to a much lower late cooldown, while reduced armor growth keeps the power-up from overloading melee AD matchups.

Base Stats

  • Armor Growth: 4.9 ⇒ 4.2

Q - Ice Shard

  • Cooldown: 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 / 4 ⇒ 7 / 6 / 5 / 4 / 3
ADJUSTED
Olaf icon

Olaf

Jungle clear and chase improve through attack speed, Q slow, and bugfix work, with higher E self-damage preserving Olaf's risky fighter profile.

Base Stats

  • Base Attack Speed: 0.694 ⇒ 0.72

Q - Undertow

  • Slow Amount: 25 / 30 / 40 / 45% for 1.5- 2.5 seconds (based on distance) ⇒ 30 / 40 / 45 / 50% for 1-3 seconds (based on distance)
  • Bug Fix: Enemies only struck by the Lollipop at the end of the Q are now slowed for the proper amount of time (was a fixed 30% slow).

W - Tough it Out

  • Bug Fix: If you cast W while the previous cast was still active, it now properly re-applies its effects rather than just refreshing the prior cast (you get the attack reset and the AS value is updated).

E - Reckless Swing

  • Damage to Self: 30% of Damage Dealt ⇒ 40% of Damage Dealt
NERF
Pyke icon

Pyke

A large base armor cut makes Pyke easier to punish when he mistimes an engage or gets caught after roaming.

Base Stats

  • Base Armor: 43 ⇒ 37
NERF
Shen icon

Shen

Lower Q monster damage cap slows Shen jungle clear while preserving the global pressure that makes the pick distinct.

Q - Twilight Assault

  • Monster Damage Cap: 120 / 140 / 160 / 180 / 200 ⇒ 100 / 125 / 150 / 175 / 200
BUFF
Skarner icon

Skarner

Q costs less mana and hits harder on the third attack, giving Skarner more room to trade and sustain lane pressure.

Q - Shattered Earth

  • Mana Cost: 45 ⇒ 30
  • Third Attack Target Max Health Damage: 9% ⇒ 11%
BUFF
Tryndamere icon

Tryndamere

A higher attack speed ratio sharpens Tryndamere's late-game right-click scaling without changing his early pattern.

Base Stats

  • Attack Speed Ratio: 0.694 ⇒ 0.725
NERF
Zaahen icon

Zaahen

W damage and jungle-skewed E monster damage are reduced to pull back Zaahen's top and jungle pressure, especially early map control.

W - Dreaded Return

  • Secondary Damage: 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 (+ 50% bonus AD) ⇒ 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 (+ 30% bonus AD)

E - Aureate Rush

  • Bonus Damage to Monsters: 75 ⇒ 50

Items

Two fighter and tank purchases get easier to justify through lower cost or a smoother build path.

BUFF
Chempunk Chainsword icon

Chempunk Chainsword

A lower combine and total cost makes this AD Grievous Wounds option easier to slot into fighter builds.

  • Combine Cost: 350 gold ⇒ 250 gold
  • Total Cost: 3100 ⇒ 3000 gold
BUFF
Sunfire Aegis icon

Sunfire Aegis

The total purchase is smoother because Ruby Crystal enters the build path and the final combine cost drops.

  • Build Path: Bami's Cinder + Chain Vest + 1000 gold ⇒ Bami's Cinder + Chain Vest + Ruby Crystal + 600 gold
